The EU is considering reforms that would allow coercion to be used against children aged 14 and up in order to get their fingerprints. The regulation, which is meeting some resistance in the EU Parliament, would be rolled into the broader "Eurodac" law, which collects and gathers the biometrics of asylum seekers and refugees. Among other things, it allows police to use physical or psychological force against anyone at least 14 year of age who refuses to give their fingerprints.
