Around 1,000 people are
participating to a relay hunger strike, which was initiated by a group of teachers and students, to support the ongoing reform of the law
on citizenship. The new law, which was passed by the Chamber of Deputies in 2015 but now stuck in the Senate, would modify the requirements to obtain Italian citizenship in the case of children who are born in Italy to foreign-national parents. The current law allows them to become Italian citizens only after their 18th birthday; the new law would (finally!) introduce wider possibilities: a modified ius soli and a ius culturae.
