Investigative journalists in Serbia face regular threats and intimidation from public officials. Recently, Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin labelled a journalist from the investigative network KRIK as a 'drug addict', accusing him of being paid by foreigners after a report investigating money used by him to buy an apartment. A journalist working for Blic had his car broken and his laptop containing evidence was stolen. Journalist Dragana Pećo had her flat broken into while investigating corruption. The harassment of journalists has been increasingly perceived as a method to silence media.
