A Dutch "no" during the Ukraine referendum on April 6 may, according to Jean-Claude Juncker, "open up the door to a major continental crisis." If Dutch voters say no to the association treaty, Russia "will taste the fruit of an easy victory." Furthermore, Juncker says that the Dutch should grasp that the issue goes beyond the Dutch interest. Because it is an advisory referendum, the cabinet has room to ignore its outcome. A majority of the Dutch Parliament, however, is of the opinion that the voting results should be respected.
