"We are convinced that there must be solidarity and that we must share that burden," claimed Linas Linkevičius, the minister of foreign affairs of Lithuania. However, he also indicated that decisions on letting refugees in should be taken voluntarily. The Lithuanian Red Cross is urging EU governments to focus on the migrant crisis in the Mediterranean Sea, to look for long-term solutions and to properly comply with their international commitments, creating a migration and asylum policy that is effective in the long-term and based on humanity, solidarity and human rights.
