In 2006, socially excluded localities in the Czech Republic were inhabited by 60-80,000 people, but presently there are 95-115,000 people living in these communities. Ghettos have appeared in all regions. The economic crisis made the situation worse, but even more significant is the fact that a new generation of people has no chance to break out of the poor neighborhoods of their childhood. Roma make up the largest share in these locations. Roughly 80 percent of people from socially excluded communities are jobless, and 30-50 percent have experience with undeclared work.
