On November 25, the Lithuanian Parliament rejected Diana Gumbrevičiūtė-Kuzminskienė's bid to become the equal opportunities ombudsman. According to the members of Parliament voting against her, the "candidate kept quiet about and hid her continuous participation in Lithuanian gay and lesbian seminars." It is believed that the lawyer was rejected because of her open support for the legalization of same-sex partnerships. Since Parliament also rejected the previous candidate, the Office of the Equal Opportunities Ombudsman has been left without an actual ombudsman for the second year in a row.
