The European Court of Human Rights has reversed the Hungarian Constitutional Court's ruling on Internet comments. The national court found that the Association of Hungarian Content Providers and the online publication Index.hu were responsible for unlawful comments made on their sites, even though they were later removed. In contrast, the Strasbourg court states that by moderating posted comments, site operators may no longer bear responsibility for them. HCLU, having already criticized the Hungarian court's ruling, trusts that the ECtHR ruling will change the practice in Hungary.
