A German Police officer is accused of abusing two refugees in 2014. He is alleged to have choked, beaten and dragged across the floor by his leg cuffs a man from Afghanistan, and to have forced a Moroccan to eat rotten pork. The officer bragged about this in short messages to his colleagues. The public prosecutor’s office is investigating. Critics say that such racism and physical ill-treatment aren't isolated cases in Germany, but that they rarely lead to criminal proceedings. A problematic "culture of silence" seems to be established within the police.
