In almost every country in the world disbelievers are being discriminated against. In a report published on December 9, the International Humanist and Ethical Union concludes that worldwide, their numbers are rising but their rights are under heavy pressure. In 13 countries, atheists, freethinkers and other disbelievers are at risk of being sentenced to death due to laws that prohibit apostasy and blasphemy. In almost all other countries there are, at best, laws that favor religions and religious citizens. The Netherlands is one of the few countries that doesn't disadvantage disbelievers.
