Lithuania has resorted to bans in order to deal with war propaganda and disinformation. For the first time in EU history, the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (RTCL) banned the repeat broadcast of a TV show produced by RTR Planeta, a Russian channel. The Lithuanian Parliament will also soon consider the president's proposal to have strict liability for broadcasters and rebroadcasters for incitement to hatred. The amendments provide for a national security compliance procedure, the ability to protect the public interest in court and expanded duties and responsibilities of the RTCL.
