The removal of the President of the Hungarian Supreme Court from his position was an unlawful act, according to the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights. Alongside András Baka, the dismissed President of the Supreme Court, the HCLU, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee and Eötvös Károly Institute acted jointly as third party interveners in the proceedings. The case points out that the removal of the president was not a personal matter but part of a systematic attempt to challenge the independence of the courts.
