In an interview published in the Spanish newspaper El País, the minister of interior has announced that he will promote reforms to "fight islamic terrorism." In particular, he wants to introduce changes in the Criminal Code, the Aliens Act, the Criminal Procedure Act and the Civil Code. Some of these measures might pose serious threats to human rights, such as the creation of a new crime of "self-radicalism" or the loss of Spanish nationality following a conviction for terrorism. Such measures would criminalize mere thoughts and increase the number of stateless people.
