Il partito al governo GERB e il Blocco Riformista hanno presentato al Parlamento una modifica che consentirebbe di indagare sui crimini commessi durante il regime comunista in Bulgaria, come le uccisioni nei campi di lavoro e l'assimilazione etnica durante il cosiddetto Processo di Rinascita. Se approvato, il disegno di legge eliminerà le prescrizioni per questi crimini attraverso modifiche al codice penale. La proposta riguarda tutti i crimini contro l'umanità riconosciuti a livello internazionale, comprese aggressioni ai civili, schiavitù, deportazione, tortura, gravidanza forzata.
