E' soltanto il primo passo, ma è un passo importante: il 13 ottobre il Parlamento Italiano ha detto il primo sì ad una nuova legge sulla cittadinanza, riconoscendola sulla base dello ius soli o dello ius cultura, anziché dello ius sanguinis. Questo significa che i bambini stranieri possono essere registrati - alla nascita o quando raggiungono la maggiore età - come cittadini italini se sono nati in Italia (nel caso in cui almeno uno dei due genitori abbia regolare permesso di soggiorno) o se hanno frequentato le scuole italiane per almeno cinque anni. La nuova legge passa ora al Senato.
