3 lutego, holenderska Izba Reprezentantów mianowała Reiniera van Zutphena nowym Rzecznikiem Praw Obywatelskich. Zastąpi on Alexa Brenninkmeijera, który opuścił swoje stanowisko trzynaście miesięcy temu. Van Zutphen ma imponujące doświadczenie jako sędzia. Pracował w Utrechcie, Den Haag, Almelo, Luksemburgu, Amsterdamie, Curaçao i Alkmar. Ponadto, był także, między innymi, przewodniczącym Holenderskiego Stowarzyszenia Sądownictwa. Od 2012 roku, van Zurphen jest prezesem holenderskiego Sądu Administracyjnego ds. Handlu i Przemysłu.
